About the Role

Halliburton's Sperry Drilling division is seeking a Directional Engineering Specialist III to support well planning and BHA design operations in Nigeria, working across both office and field environments. This role sits at the intersection of technical engineering and customer-facing advisory, with responsibility for mentoring junior team members and contributing to published commercial and technical successes.

Responsibilities

  • Under broad direction, provides support to office and field operations related to well planning and BHA design and operation.
  • Deliver design of service documentation by following anti-collision processes and BHA design modeling requirements for well plans.
  • Generate technical reports using current software applications for well planning and drilling operations.
  • Apply survey management principles to well planning activities.
  • Develop and maintain personal relationships with the technical customer base.
  • Consult with customers to determine their specific drilling and directional needs.
  • Maintain well planning and BHA design databases and prepare post-job analysis for customers.
  • Perform post-job reviews and participate in product/service failure investigations, reporting findings to the customer.
  • Supervise and peer-review work, and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Advise customers and field personnel on equipment capabilities and technical complexity of operations.
  • Assist in publishing commercial and technical successes.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline, preferably in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant industry experience including working at the well site.
  • Knowledge of BHA design, well planning, and directional drilling principles.
  • Proficiency with well planning and directional drilling software applications.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and relationship management skills.
