About the Role

Vestas' Remote Operations Center (ROC) in Chennai provides 24/7 real-time support to maximize turbine and system availability across the Asia-Pacific region. As a Remote Operations Engineer you will diagnose and resolve turbine faults remotely using SCADA and diagnostic tools, and play a key role in advancing the ROC's continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing culture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced-level wind turbine remote operations and provide support during night shifts.
  • Operate and use remote operation and diagnostic tools proficiently.
  • Use SAP front end for work order and maintenance management.
  • Perform advanced operational performance analysis and execute strategy to ensure availability targets are achieved.
  • Effectively gather information remotely regarding turbine issues and performance.
  • Diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions for turbine equipment faults.
  • Communicate pertinent information to key individuals and field teams.
  • Follow structured problem-solving processes to perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks with remote SCADA and IT diagnostic tools.
  • Independently initiate and perform work tasks as well as follow defined instructions per written and verbal directives.
  • Manage escalations by undertaking and interpreting WTG data and demonstrating strong customer service.
  • Enhance team competencies by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues through complex technical issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), continuous improvement, and lean initiatives.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities in job-appropriate processes and communicate through appropriate channels.

Qualifications

  • B.E in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of technical experience in the wind industry.
  • Demonstrated use and understanding of intermediate IT tools.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and reading comprehension.
  • Strong attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills.
  • Prior customer relations experience in a commercial setting preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with gearboxes, systems, and wind turbine controls.
