Control Room Operator

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control the performance of oil and gas facilities using DCS, Supervisory Computer, and graphics control panels.
• Safely control start-up and shutdown of plant and process equipment.
• Provide guidance to field operators on field operation requirements.
• Manage alarms and investigate repetitive alarming events.
• Monitor operating parameters including level, pressure, flow rate, and temperature.
• Adjust operating parameter set points to meet process and product requirements within the operating envelope.
• Liaise with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on current operating conditions.
• Produce daily operations reports highlighting equipment and process faults.
• Assist the team lead in preparation of monthly plant performance reports and equipment run hours.
• Operate plant safeguarding systems located in the Control Room and Auxiliary Control Room.
• Maintain records showing movement of plant documents and tools/equipment stored in the Control Building.
• Update the incoming control room operator on plant status during shift handover.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or OND/HND in Engineering, Chemical Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in upstream oil and gas control room operations.
• Proficiency with DCS systems and Supervisory Control software.
• Knowledge of process safety management and alarm management principles.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas process parameters and operating envelopes.
• Effective communication and report-writing skills.
