About the Role

Sofomation is seeking a Lead Process Engineer for a petrochemical and oil & gas facility in Jubbah, Saudi Arabia. This senior role involves providing technical leadership across process design, simulation, and safety studies while mentoring engineering teams and interfacing with clients on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process engineering activities for petrochemical and oil & gas facilities.
  • Develop and review process design documents including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, and equipment datasheets.
  • Conduct process simulations using industry-standard software to optimize plant performance.
  • Perform process hazard analyses and provide technical input to safety studies (HAZOP, HAZID).
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior process engineers.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve process-related issues.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables for quality and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support plant operations teams during commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Identify and implement process optimization opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 18+ years of relevant working experience in petrochemical and oil & gas industries.
  • Expertise in process simulation tools (Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of process design standards including API, ASME, and NFPA.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale projects.
  • Proficiency in developing PFDs, P&IDs, and process calculations.
  • Strong understanding of process safety and hazard analysis methodologies.

Certifications
