About the Role
Vestas' Global Production Engineering (GPEX) team drives operational excellence across wind turbine manufacturing through data-driven improvement and lean methodologies. This Chennai-based role combines advanced BI development with lean manufacturing leadership, building predictive models and automation solutions that directly impact factory performance and new product rollouts worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Develop GPEX reporting and roll it out end-to-end.
- Plan data collection and build models to predict operational results.
- Work with the Digital Solution team to improve all existing GPEX applications and reporting.
- Identify potential opportunities for improvement and automate processes.
- Build predictive models for critical variables, specifications, and controls.
- Drive the Vestas Lean Methodology - Vestas Production System across factories.
- Support factories in deployment of Vestas Production System and initiate lean improvement projects.
- Seek out and concretize new ideas, develop and coordinate kaizen activities, and lead factory Lean Capability building initiatives including workforce education and training.
- Manage and control product/process-related costs on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Create business cases for projects to enable clear decision-making.
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
- Work closely with all Vestas functions with effective stakeholder management.
- Travel to factories outside India approximately 50% of the time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or similar specialization.
- 10+ years of software development and data science experience in wind, automotive, heavy engineering, or other manufacturing industries.
- Experience in Advanced Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Experience in automating processes in the wind industry.
- Strong experience in statistical modeling and forecasting.
- Relevant work experience on LEAN and cost saving projects.
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and assembly processes and related costs.
- Project Management and/or MES experience.
- Effective stakeholder management and multicultural work experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification preferred.
