About the Role
Eni's Global Natural Resources Department is seeking an HPC Hardware Architecture Expert to shape the evolution of the company's supercomputing infrastructure used for exploration. You will be the technical authority on specialized computing and storage architectures, driving procurement, infrastructure rejuvenation, and collaboration with both internal software teams and external industry partners.
Responsibilities
- Design the evolution of specialized computing and storage infrastructures for HPC systems, according to what is available in the state of the art on the market
- Test and validate the identified hardware technologies and architectures against Eni's proprietary and commercial specialist software portfolio
- Participate, as a technical contact, in the HPC infrastructure procurement processes that gradually become necessary to achieve the technological rejuvenation of HPC infrastructures
- Collaborate with interested internal and external partners for the implementation and start-up of new infrastructure
- Constantly monitor the evolution of the HPC market and technologies, including through specific research projects and by interacting with industry providers, participating in events and consortia dedicated to the topic of supercomputing
- Collaborate with colleagues on the HPC team dedicated to the development of proprietary software that will use the hardware architectures selected from time to time
- Operate in support of the management of Eni's HPC systems.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or similar technical disciplines; lower or different qualifications may be taken into consideration with significant experience in the field
- At least 3 years of experience gained in similar contexts
- Good knowledge of security technologies and procedures for systems and data
- Good knowledge of the English language
- Availability for national and international mobility.
- Knowledge of typical high performance computing hardware architectures with a focus on hybrid architectures, high performance storage using parallel file systems, and high performance, low latency networks
- Knowledge of the main commercial computing and storage products specific to the HPC sector, of the communication protocols within and outside the computing nodes of an HPC cluster, of the main parallel file systems and of the interconnection networks between nodes, clusters, storage and other non-HPC infrastructure.
