About the Role

Halliburton's Baroid division is hiring an entry-level Chemical Scientist based in Georgetown, Guyana to support research and development of drilling fluid products and processes. This is an excellent opportunity to develop applied chemistry skills under the guidance of experienced scientific leaders within one of the world's largest oilfield services companies. Residence in Georgetown is required.

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, trains and gains familiarity with the chemical hygiene plan and current HSE laboratory safety standards.
Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties.
Applies theories, principles and practices to the research and development of new and improved drilling fluid products, processes and procedures.
Performs routine research and experimentation at the direction of Scientific Leader, Scientific Advisor and Team Leaders.
Documents progress in laboratory notebooks, reports, procedures, and designs.
Communicates occasionally with technical client personnel.
Responds as directed by Scientific Leader, Scientific Advisor and Team Leaders to customers needs.
Participates in professional societies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Science, Geology, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline.
Experience in chemical hygiene plan and current HSE laboratory safety standards.
Residence in Georgetown, Guyana is mandatory.
