About the Role

Sunlink Manpower is seeking an experienced Civil Inspector to support Shell-operated oil and gas facilities across Nigeria. In this role you will serve as a senior QA/QC authority across construction, installation, and commissioning activities, ensuring all work meets Shell DEPs and industry standards. The position carries responsibility for mentoring subordinate inspectors and acting as a consultant in your field of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Planning management and coordination of all activities in a project lifecycle, including detailed design, project management, control and execution of design projects, construction, installation and commissioning associated with oil and gas facilities for the company's work program.
  • Must be capable of determining the organizational structure required to accomplish the assigned projects efficiently and in accordance with approved plans and schedules.
  • Should be capable of acting as consultants in their chosen field of expertise.
  • Advise on the fit for purpose of the work and materials,
  • Advise on procedures for welding, NDT, painting and coating, civil testing, electrical etc;
  • Monitor procedure qualifications and mechanical test results, trial coating, civil testing etc.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the condition of items inspected.
  • Immediately instruct the CONTRACTORS and Sub-CONTRACTORS of a non-conformance situation and request remedial action
  • Prepare non-conformance reports and follow-up on any deficiencies found during surveillance activities
  • Draw conclusions of the fit for purpose on any non-conforming item;
  • Make detailed recommendations for remedial action;
  • Prepare a punch lists of outstanding Items at pre-commissioning stage.
  • Provide a daily report of activities and a weekly report of progress to the Site Coordinator/Senior QA Engineer for their inclusion in reports to SHELL.
  • Review Certification Packages for content and accuracy.
  • Monitoring, training and assisting the performance of the subordinate inspectors Network within Shell locally to incorporate and share knowledge and best practices.
  • Mentoring project and construction engineers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in civil inspection within the oil and gas industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of NDT methods, welding procedures, painting and coating standards
  • Experience with non-conformance reporting and punch list management
  • Familiarity with Shell DEPs and industry inspection standards
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead subordinate inspectors
